Support

To lose hearing can be devastating. Fear of misunderstanding what is going on around you when you simply cannot hear clearly is real. Sometimes isolation develops. Today there are many aids to combat the effects of hearing loss. Hearing aids get better all the time. For the severely deaf there are cochlear implants. For many people, these devices can restore a great deal of hearing. However, for some people, reluctance to venture out is a real threat to their happiness. Most will get support from friends and family. Visiting our group you will also meet many other people with the same problems that you have to face every day, and you will learn some useful tips on coping with hearing loss. Discussing experiences and comparing notes with other members often helps to get things into perspective. The Group also has visiting speakers such as audiologists and hearing therapists who keep us up to date on modern aids.
